Use the wall for support and gently stretch the calf of your back leg.
How to do it
- Place both hands on a wall and step one foot back, toes forward and heel down, with the front knee slightly bent.
- Move forward slowly and steadily to a mild stretch in the calf of the back leg. Hold this position and breathe naturally.
- Return slowly to the start and regain a steady stance before switching sides.
Make it easier
- Shorten the stance and reduce the forward movement.
Common mistakes
- Keep the rear heel down and avoid turning that foot far outward.
When to stop or adjust
- Stop or modify for pain, dizziness or inability to control the movement.
