60% to below 70% of reserve
Zone 2 starts at resting heart rate + 60% of reserve and ends just below resting heart rate + 70% of reserve. Reserve means estimated maximum heart rate minus resting heart rate. The same percentage of maximum heart rate gives a different result.[1]
Do not borrow another “Zone 2”
Advice called “Zone 2 training” elsewhere may use a measured threshold or another formula. It is not automatically advice for this band. Conversation and perceived effort provide useful context, but being able to talk does not locate an exact App boundary.
