How to do it

  1. Stand steadily with relaxed knees, using stable support if needed, and breathe naturally.
  2. Reach the right foot a small step forward, touch the heel down with toes slightly raised, then return and stand steadily; do not bend to touch your toes or stretch the back of the leg to its limit.
  3. Repeat with the left foot and alternate for 20 taps in total; finish with both feet in place and stand steadily.

Make it easier

  • Use smaller steps and hold a stable support.

When to stop or adjust

  • Stop for pain, marked dizziness or unsteadiness; settle into a stable seated or supported standing position.
