Gently stretch the back of your thigh while seated.

How to do it

  1. Sit toward the front of a stable chair. Extend one leg with its heel on the floor and a comfortable bend in the knee.
  2. Keep your back natural and lean your upper body gently forward from the hips to a mild stretch behind the thigh. Hold this position and breathe naturally.
  3. Return slowly to an upright sitting position, then switch sides.

Make it easier

  • Bend the knee more and lean less. Rest a hand lightly on the thigh without pressing the knee down.

Common mistakes

  • Do not round the back to reach the toes or bounce for more range.

When to stop or adjust

  • Stop or modify for pain, dizziness or inability to control the movement.
